Surrealism

I was thinking of what I could do for my own surrealism artwork and two of my favorite things came to mind, Pizza and the Ocean. I was thinking about how I could combine those two and come up with surrealism and I thought of this idea. I decided to make my water glass look like it is the ocean, I also added a pitcher of water with a shark in it to add a little bit more ocean. Then I continued to draw pizza with a side of ranch. I learned that you can do many different things with the surrealism topic, like there is not just one choice. I believe that this artwork fits into my portfolio because i love animals and most of my drawings have been about animals this semester. I would like to let all the other students looking at my post that you can accomplish great things if you just put your mind to it!

First Half of My Museum Curator

I accomplished finding the right information and pictures for my topic about “Surrealism”. My first page is my opening page and it has a bunch of different words on it explaining Surrealism. The next 5 pages are famous Surrealism paintings. I said who made them, what the paintings name is, and the year it was made. Monday I am going to start working on the next 5 pages and finding a Surrealist painter that is living. I still have a lot to do but the right amount of time.

Motif to Pattern

To come up with this unique picture I drew many different shapes and colors. I also came up with many different patterns that I could use for this motif drawing. I used these specific colors because I was hoping that it would bring out the patterns in this picture. I feel that my final design is pretty amazing, I am very happy with how this picture looks in the end. I don’t know what i would want to change in my picture because I think it looks pretty good.

Appitizer

I decided to use Minification, Duplication. Magnification, and reversal. I used minification drawing the kitchen I made it a lot smaller than a normal kitchen would be. I used magnification drawing the butterfly. I used reversal by switch the lives of butterfly’s and humans. so the butterfly is cooking and the humans are flying. Lastly I used duplication by adding multiple tiny humans instead of just one. I learned that in surrealism that everything you draw ins’t supposed to be real, you are imagining what you are seeing and drawing.

Self-Portrait Still-Life Watercolor Painting

I decided to do my still life painting on the pandemic that is happening right now. I picked the three most used items that everyone is taking. I used soap, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper. These three items are symbolizing what most people are taking. even through this rough time I know we can push through and we will all be 100% better after. I didn’t really use my colors as symbols, I just painted them the way that my stuff was.

50/50 Painting

I tried to glaze over a couple of the paints so you could see both colors. I picked 5 different shapes and I used 5 different colors to achieve all the different colors on there. I learned that you can create many different colors by combining other colors together. The most difficult part was picking the colors I was going to use because I needed to see which colors would create the most variety. The easiest part was picking the different shapes I was going to do. I like how i could create any different colors with few colors.

Color Grid

I first got a paintbrush, water, ruler, and a pencil. After my paper was stretched out, I started painting 9 different colors vertical then I took those same colors and painted them horizontally. I learned that you cake many different colors. The colors i used were successful but i could improve on taking more time and spacing things out correctly.

For the stairs i used one point perspective. For the checker floor i used two point perspective. For the brick circle i used 3 point perspective. I came up with multiple different patterns and I have the same thing, 4 times. I also created a hole in the wall which shows the night sky at its finest. I also felt that i should draw a couple stars outside of the hole to represent that the door is always opened and magic can come out.
